 Celebrating 25 years of music thanks to you!

December 2023

Dear friend,

Virtuoso performances. Unparalleled scholarship. Acclaim at home and abroad. For 25 years, Blue Heron has brought breathtakingly beautiful music to life on stage and in groundbreaking recordings.

Our pioneering work has promoted a deeper appreciation and understanding of the gorgeous and challenging music of the Middle Ages and Renaissance. It has filled our venues and hearts with the incredible power of seldom-heard masterpieces. It has made Blue Heron a global standard-bearer for top-quality early music performances and recordings.

And it has all been possible thanks to individuals like you.

Despite the extraordinary challenges of the last few years, Blue Heron has been steadfast in creating unforgettable musical experiences thanks to the support of donors, patrons, volunteers and friends. Supported by you, in 2023 we:

… finished Ockeghem@600, Blue Heron’s monumental multi-season traversal of the complete works of Johannes Ockeghem, one of the foundational composers of the Western tradition. In addition to thirteen unique concert programs, the project has resulted in a new complete edition of Ockeghem’s music, scrupulously based on original sources and proven in live performance. Volume Two of Blue Heron’s recordings of Ockeghem’s songs will be released later this season;

… performed at Laus Polyphoniae, the world’s premier festival of vocal polyphony, in Antwerp, Belgium—an honor befitting Blue Heron’s international status as a leader in our field;

… and, most important of all, gathered together with concertgoers like you for enriching and fulfilling performances of incredible, emotional works at a time when we need the balm of this powerful music more than ever.

In 2024 and beyond, Blue Heron will continue leading the way in presenting historically informed performances of rare early music at an unmatched level. To continue this musical exploration with us, you are invited to make a year-end gift in support of our mission. Your support in any amount will have a meaningful impact at Blue Heron, especially as we navigate the challenging current financial climate.

Thank you for being an essential part of Blue Heron, and for ensuring early music resonates for generations to come.

Sincerely,

Scott Metcalfe
